NAS Shootout - SD Chicago 2007
sponsored by Storage Decisions sponsored by Plasmon
ABSTRACT:
Traditionally, Stanford has used SAN to support its internal customers. But recently, they discussed the benefits of running Oracle databases on NAS. Rather than make an immediate purchase, Stanford went through a rigorous requirements gathering process and then completed comprehensive testing of three systems to identify the one that met its requirements - both technological and cost.
ESG's Brian Babineau interviewed the Director of Stanford Storage Systems Group to review the major steps of Stanford's NAS Shootout. While many organizations believe that a 'shootout' solely involves performance testing, Stanford focused on manageability, resource utilization and information access.
