Re-engineer the Storage Supply Chain - SD Chicago 2007

Cover
Storage provisioning can, in some organizations, literally impact time to market for a product or service because it is time consuming and unpredictable. To help alleviate this challenge, many vendors offer a storage "on demand" model - deploying "excess" storage on the floor of the client, which can very quickly be provisioned. Despite this model, few organizations can yet determine the difference between how much storage they own, how much is allocated and how much is used.

In this presentation, Senior Vice President of GlassHouse Technologies, Richard Scannell, examines the current situation in storage provisioning, challenges the accurate metering of environments, the impact that poor metering has on overall efficiency and the need for re-engineering storage around a supply-chain model.
