ABSTRACT:
Grid storage has seen products on the market since 2004 - but without playing a significant role in most enterprises, much the same as grid computing. Michael Thomas from the Federal Reserve Bank has done extensive research and quantifying the impact that the adoption could have on storage environments. It appears that early implementations may target disk based backups that will be hitting the market this year and will potentially see significant traction by 2008.
This presentation attempts to put grid storage into context of the enterprise and answer questions like:- Will SOA and utility computing model adoption drive grid storage to the forefront?
- What makes grid easier to manage than SAN?
- Is grid storage the next step in the natural evolution in SAN and RAID?
- When will file servers and other applications will be available?
- And more
