Server virtualization, especially VMware, has had a viral affect inside IT organizations giving customers the ability to manage groups of common elements as a single logical element. A recent ESG research study of more than 500 respondents showed that 57% are using virtual server technology in production environments. Server virtualization users are deploying virtual machines across a variety of storage solutions.

There are inherent benefits, inclusive of increased availability, efficient data protection and improved utilization if virtualized servers are deployed with networked storage.
