Snapshots Without Penalty - How Maxta Beats VSAN Snapshots

Cover

Storage system snapshots have been a popular way for server and storage admins to rapidly protect data and enable recovery in minutes.  Unfortunately, snapshots have lost much of their value due to the shift from physical servers to hypervisors.

Now, since each snapshot contains the data from multiple virtual machines, they will take up much more disk space. On top of this, the consistency of the data in snapshot has also been called into question.

Check out this white paper to learn about the VM-level snapshot, a way to deliver highly optimized metadata snapshots and clones on a per-VM basis, on top of a distributed, deduplicated, hybrid datastore.
